On the MSN home page, the sign-in (log in) control is in the top-right corner.

To sign in so it applies to MSN.com specifically:

    1. Go to the MSN home page: www.msn.com.
    2. Look at the top-right of the page for the sign-in icon and select it.
    3. Sign in with a Microsoft account (the same one used for Xbox, Outlook, etc.).

    Once signed in on MSN:

    • The sign-in applies to MSN itself (home page, services stripe, and comments where supported).
    • Personalization and some settings are stored with the Microsoft account and in cookies. If cookies are blocked or cleared, MSN may repeatedly lose the session and show “session expired.”

If the session keeps expiring or sign-in loops when trying to comment or use community features:

    1. Confirm sign-in on MSN
      • After signing in, verify that the account picture or initials appear in the top-right of www.msn.com instead of the generic sign-in icon.
    2. Check browser cookies and security settings (especially in Microsoft Edge)
      • Ensure cookies are allowed for msn.com, microsoft.com, and sign-in domains.
      • If using strict tracking prevention or custom site permissions, relax them for MSN so cookies can be stored.
    3. Avoid cross-zone cookie issues (IE/Edge security zones)
      • If using Internet Explorer or legacy Edge with security zones configured, make sure these sites are not split across zones in a way that blocks cookie sharing:
        1. microsoft.com
        2. support.microsoft.com and its subdomains
        3. login.live.com
        4. login.microsoftonline.com
      • If organizational policy requires them in Trusted Sites, ensure all of them are in the same zone so cookies can be shared correctly.
    4. Sign in directly to the Microsoft account, then open MSN
      • Go to https://login.live.com/ and sign in with the Microsoft account.
      • In a new tab, open www.msn.com and confirm that the page now shows the signed-in state.

If the issue is specifically with commenting or MSN community features (session expired when posting comments), and sign-in on the MSN home page is confirmed, use the Feedback link at the bottom of the MSN page to report the problem to the MSN team, as MSN comments and community moderation are handled by MSN’s own systems.
