Dear Terri Sloan,
I understand how challenging this situation can be, especially when your Classic Outlook suddenly stops sending or receiving emails due to an unexpected system error.
The folder path MicrosoftWindows.Client.AIX and the file AIXHost.exe belong to the new Windows 11 Copilot and AI features. The error you are seeing indicates that this background AI component is continuously crashing and interfering with Outlook.
Please follow the steps below to remove the crashing component and repair your Office installation:
Step 1: Remove the crashing AI component
- Click your Windows Start button and type PowerShell
- Right-click on Windows PowerShell in the search results and select Run as administrator
- In the blue window, copy and paste the following command exactly as written, and press Enter:
-
Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.AIX | Remove-AppxPackage - Let the command run (it usually only takes a few seconds)
- Restart your computer
Step 2: Run a Quick Office Repair
This ensures Outlook has a clean slate and is no longer looking for that AI tool once your computer restarts,
- Right-click your Windows Start button and select Installed Apps (or Apps & Features)
- Scroll down and find your Microsoft Office (or Microsoft 365) installation
- Click the three dots next to it (or click the app itself) and select Modify
- Choose Quick Repair and let it run
I hope this helps you resolve the issue, and please let me know if you have any further questions!
