My Templates button has completely vanished from the Outlook ribbon

My Templates button has completely vanished from the Outlook ribbon and is also missing from the All Apps menu. This seems to be a widespread problem across both Classic and New Outlook, as well as Outlook on the web, where searching for the add-in in the store returns a "Something went wrong" error. It is particularly frustrating because it appeared to be fixed a few months ago, but it has now resurfaced in March 2026, breaking workflows for anyone who relies on canned responses for client communication.

    Hi Kitano

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A and apologize for the inconvenience

This behavior can sometimes occur under certain conditions related to server-side synchronization. After researching this behavior, we found that it aligns with an active service incident under the reference code EX1238375. This specific service behavior currently affects users attempting to access the "My Templates" and "Viva Insights" add-ins across multiple platforms, including the Outlook desktop application, Outlook mobile, and Outlook on the web. It seems the automated system may require a little bit of time to process these requests as the service is being restored. Please refer the following article:

My Templates are missing from Outlook

Please try to reach out to your organization's IT Administrator and ask them to submit a formal support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.User's image

In the meantime, you can use Signatures as a temporary workaround, I know it's not the same, but it does have the similar function to My Template.

Thank you so much for your understanding and patience while this behavior is addressed. I will keep an eye on this incident and let you know if there are any major updates.

As a workaround only, I found two options. They are not ideal, but they are functional for now.

This is the easiest workaround, but it only works on the browser version, not on the desktop client:

    1. Sign into outlook.office.com in Edge browser
    2. Create a template and save it.
      1. I recreated the template by finding an email I previously sent that was in my sent box, then created a new email with the format needed and select to save as template.
      2. I used the save as type of Outlook Template (*.oft)
      3. For save location I chose the location Templates typically save to by default:
        1. C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
    3. To use it via web interface select the arrow next to New mail and then select Mail from template.image

In Outlook Classic. Create and save a template. I saved it to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
Once you have a template saved:

    1. In classic Outlook, on the Home tab, select New items > More Items > Choose Form.User's image
    2. Select a standard template, or change Look In to User Templates in File System and choose a template you've created.
    3. Select Open.

    Notes from troubleshooting I'd completed:

Select Add-ins from the left-hand menu.

Under Manage, ensure COM Add-ins is selected, then click Go.

Check if the My Templates add-in is listed

    My templates was not offered/listed.

Went to File and selected Manage Add Ins

Searched for My Templates and it was not offered at all.
