Severe cross-OS Bluetooth audio and connection issues after dual-booting Windows 11 and Arch Linux

Hello Microsoft Q&A Community,

I am experiencing a cross-OS Bluetooth issue on my laptop. Originally, my native Windows 11 system had no Bluetooth issues. Recently, I installed Arch Linux to set up a dual-boot system. Since then, I have been facing severe Bluetooth connection anomalies with two different brands/models of headphones.

Symptoms on Arch Linux:

  1. The connection is highly intermittent. It constantly cycles between three states every ~2 seconds: a) sound in only one ear, b) sudden complete silence, c) normal connection.

Suspected misread of Bluetooth commands: Video playback automatically pauses every 3 to 4 seconds.

The battery consumption rate of the headphones seems to have increased significantly.

Symptoms on Windows 11:

Unstable Bluetooth connection with frequent disconnections.

The exact same intermittent connection issue as in Arch (cycling between one-ear sound, no sound, and normal every ~2 seconds).

The battery consumption rate of the headphones seems to have increased significantly.

The problem persists even after shutting down Windows for several hours and completely deleting the Bluetooth pairing records.

Device Testing Details & Timeline: I tested two different headphones. The timeline of testing is as follows (tested Headphone 2 first, then Headphone 1):

Headphone 2: Connected to Windows previously. After installing the dual-boot system, I connected it via Linux, and the anomalies appeared. Upon returning to Windows, the anomalies persisted.

Headphone 1: Had only been connected to Windows. After installing the dual-boot system, I connected it again via Windows, and the anomalies appeared immediately.

Could anyone help me troubleshoot what is causing this and tell me what I need to do to fix it? Thank you.Hello Microsoft Q&A Community,

    Hello,

Can you try the below options may helps:

    1. Disable Fast Startup in Windows
    2. Shut down the laptop > Unplug the power and hold the Power button for 30 seconds > Turn it back on and boot into Windows
    3. Pair your headphones in Arch Linux > Reboot into Windows 11 and pair them again

Side Note on the March 2026 Update:

There is a secondary issue in the recent KB5079473 update that causes Bluetooth visibility glitches. If the steps above don't fix Windows specifically, check for the emergency patch KB5084597 in Windows Update, which stabilizes the radio's power-state transitions.

    Regard,
