    Hi Chanuga,

Thanks for your post. I understand you’re using an older Dell Latitude E7450 with Windows 10, and after resetting/reinstalling Windows, the laptop no longer has internet access. You also mentioned you’re 8 years old, so I’ll keep everything very simple.

Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, please check whether the Wi‑Fi driver is missing.

    1. Press Windows key + X
    2. Select Device Manager
    3. Expand Network adapters, then check the following:
      • If you see a Wi‑Fi adapter name (for example, Intel Wireless), please let me know the exact name.
      • If you see nothing, a yellow warning icon, or an Unknown device, this indicates that the Wi‑Fi driver is missing.

If the Wi‑Fi driver is missing, assistance from another device or an adult/helper may be required, as the laptop will not have internet access.

    1. Use another computer or phone
    2. Go to Dell’s official support website
    3. Search for Dell Latitude E7450
    4. Download the Wi‑Fi / Wireless driver for Windows 10
    5. Copy it to a USB stick
    6. Plug the USB into this laptop and install it

This is safe and commonly required after a reset.

(Note: This is a third‑party website not operated by Microsoft. Please download drivers only from Dell’s official site.)

If this laptop is too slow or keeps having problems, a used or budget student laptop with:

    • Intel i3 / Ryzen 3 or better
    • 8 GB RAM
    • SSD storage
    • Windows 11 Home

will be much easier and faster for school use. Local computer shops in Sri Lanka usually have refurbished student laptops that work well for basic learning.

Try these steps in order. An adult may need to help.

    1. Restart the Wi‑Fi box (router)
      1. Unplug the power from the router and modem.
      2. Wait about 30 seconds.
      3. Plug the modem back in, wait for its lights to stop blinking.
      4. Plug the router back in, wait a few minutes.
      5. On the laptop, try to connect to Wi‑Fi again.
    2. Turn Wi‑Fi off and on in Windows 10
      1. On the taskbar, click the network icon (looks like Wi‑Fi or a globe).
      2. Click Wi‑Fi to turn it off.
      3. Wait 10 seconds.
      4. Click Wi‑Fi again to turn it on.
      5. Pick the home Wi‑Fi name and type the password.
    3. Run network repair commands
      1. Click the Start button.
      2. Type cmd.
      3. Right‑click “Command Prompt” and choose “Run as administrator”.
      4. Type these lines one by one, pressing Enter after each:
        • netsh winsock reset
        • netsh int ip reset
        • ipconfig /release
        • ipconfig /renew
        • ipconfig /flushdns
      5. Restart the laptop and test the internet.
    4. Check if Windows thinks Wi‑Fi is connected but no internet If it shows the Wi‑Fi name but says “No Internet”, do this:
      1. Open Command Prompt as administrator again.
      2. Type:
        • ipconfig /release then Enter
        • ipconfig /renew then Enter
        • ipconfig /flushdns then Enter
      3. Try the internet again.
    5. Reinstall the network driver (if Wi‑Fi or Ethernet still does not work)
      1. Click Start and type device manager, open “Device Manager”.
      2. Find “Network adapters” and click the arrow.
      3. Right‑click the Wi‑Fi adapter (and Ethernet adapter if using cable) and choose “Uninstall device”.
      4. Tick “Attempt to remove the driver for this device” if it shows.
      5. Click “Uninstall”.
      6. Restart the laptop. Windows will try to install the driver again.

If none of this works, a grown‑up may need to download the correct Wi‑Fi/Ethernet driver for the Dell Latitude e7450 on another computer, copy it to a USB stick, and install it on the laptop.
