    Hi werewolf Ducky,

    Thank you for reaching out.

When Microsoft Edge closes all tabs and signs you out of websites at startup, it is typically related to how session data (such as cookies or profile settings) is being handled during browser close or launch. This can occur even when “Open tabs from the previous session” appears enabled.

Please confirm these checking steps to fix this issue:

1, Confirm Edge is not clearing data on close

    • Open Edge and go to: edge://settings/clearBrowsingDataOnClose
    • Ensure Cookies and other site data is turned off

    2, Verify startup behavior

    • Go to: edge://settings/onStartup
    • Select Continue where you left off

3, Review cookie and privacy settings

    • Go to: edge://settings/content/cookies
    • Allow sites to save cookies
    • Temporarily disable Block third‑party cookies to test
    • Set Tracking prevention to Balanced

    4, Check extensions

    • Go to: edge://extensions
    • Temporarily disable all extensions, restart Edge, and test again

    5, Repair Microsoft Edge

    • Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge
    • Select Advanced options > Repair

As an added safeguard, you may consider saving important tabs to Collections or enabling Edge Sync, which helps preserve sessions across restarts.

Edge is likely clearing the data that keeps tabs and sign-ins between sessions. Check and adjust these areas:

    1. Verify startup setting
      • Go to Settings and more (⋯) > Settings > Start, home, and new tab page.
      • Ensure Open tabs from the previous session is selected. This setting makes Edge reopen last open tabs, including session cookies, when starting.
    2. Check “clear on close” settings
      • Go to Settings and more (⋯) > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
      • Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.
      • Make sure Cookies and other site data and Browsing history are turned off here. If they are on, Edge will delete cookies and history at close, which logs out of sites and can prevent restoring tabs correctly.
    3. Confirm normal clear operation
      • If data was cleared previously, sign in to sites again once.
      • Close Edge normally, then reopen and confirm tabs and sign-ins persist.
    4. Check InPrivate/Guest usage
      • If browsing in InPrivate or Guest mode, tabs and cookies are not restored on startup by design. Use a normal profile window for sessions that should persist.

If the issue continues after these checks, clear cached credentials and cookies once to remove any corruption, then sign in again:

    • Go to edge://settings/privacy > Clear browsing data > Choose what to clear.
    • Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, set Time range to All time, then Clear now and restart Edge.
