Office “2024 Home & Student” is a one‑time purchase that installs the same core desktop apps as other current Office versions (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). In many places in Windows and in the installer, these apps can still appear under generic labels like “Microsoft 365” or “Office 16/16.x” because of the shared underlying platform and versioning.
So seeing entries that mention Microsoft 365 or Office 16 does not necessarily mean the wrong product is installed. What matters is what is shown for the license inside an app:
- Open Word or Excel.
- Go to File → Account.
- Under Product Information, check the product name (for example, “Office Home 2024” or similar) and that it shows as activated.
If the product name there matches the Home/Student 2024 license tied to the Microsoft account used to redeem the key, then the installation is correct, even if the download or app list uses older naming.
If the wrong edition is installed (for example, a Microsoft 365 trial), uninstall that Office version first, then reinstall from the Services & subscriptions page of the correct Microsoft account so that the proper 2024 Home/Student license is applied.
