ESU isnt real, windows 10 still gets security updates without enrolling, its literally just a trick screen to make people turn offline accounts into online ones, so that its easier for microsoft to force the windows 11 update

    Hi, good day!

Have you tried the AI-suggested solutions?

Please execute the command below as Consumer ESU checks this registry key to see if the account is child

Open and run Command Prompt as administrator

Copy and paste the command below then press Enter

    reg.exe query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Parental Controls\Users" /f "Filter On" /s

if the command returns results, then you need to delete the relevant registry key. Please take a screenshot of the result and post it in your next response.

I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed by clicking "Add comment" below.

The message appears because the Microsoft account currently signed in on the device is treated as a child account. For Windows 10 Consumer ESU, the Microsoft account used on the device must not be a child account and must be an administrator.

    Use these steps:

    1. Confirm the account type on the PC
      • Go to Settings → Accounts → Your info.
      • Ensure the account shown is an administrator account.
    2. Make sure the Microsoft account is not a child account
      • The ESU prerequisites state: “The Microsoft Account can’t be a child account.”
      • Sign out of any child account and sign in with an adult Microsoft account that is not managed as a child in a family group.
    3. If needed, switch to a different Microsoft account
      • In Settings → Accounts → Your info, choose to sign in with a different Microsoft account that is an adult account.
      • After switching, confirm it still has administrator rights.
    4. Try ESU enrollment again
      • With the adult, administrator Microsoft account signed in, go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update and start the Extended Security Updates (ESU) enrollment again.

If the device is part of a family where the current Microsoft account is configured as a child, an organizer’s (adult) Microsoft account must be used for ESU enrollment, or the account’s status must be changed so it is no longer a child account.
