    Hi, I'm John!

Microsoft Q&A is public, and we can only provide information. It is beyond our capability to assist directly with billing-related concerns.

To help narrow down the issue:

    • Are you seeing any error when trying to remove the card?
    • Do you have an active subscription (like Microsoft 365, Xbox, etc.)?
    • Is this the only payment method on the account?

You’ll need to remove it directly from your Microsoft account. Here's how to "Remove a Microsoft account payment method" https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/remove-a-microsoft-account-payment-method-ae18bace-4209-ea29-dd76-568271df99d5

If the issue persists, please provide more details by answering my questions.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

A payment method can only be deleted if it is not attached to any active subscriptions or billing profiles. If it is still in use, it must first be replaced on all subscriptions that use it.

For a Microsoft 365 business subscription (admin center):

    1. Go to the admin center.
    2. In Simplified view: select Products > View payment methods. In Dashboard view: go to Bills & payments > Payment methods.
    3. Find the payment method (credit card) to remove and select the More actions button (three dots).
    4. Select Delete.
    5. If the card is not associated with any subscriptions or billing profiles, the wizard will show “No subscriptions linked to this payment method.” Select Delete payment method and then Close.
    6. If the card is associated with subscriptions or billing profiles, in the Delete payment method wizard:
      • Under Choose payment method to move subscriptions, choose Select a payment method (existing) or Add a new payment method.
      • If adding a new one, enter the new payment details and select Next.
      • On Review details and delete, confirm the current and new payment methods and associated subscriptions, then select Replace and delete, and Close.

For a personal Microsoft account (Microsoft Store / consumer Microsoft 365):

    1. Sign in to the Payment options page with the Microsoft account: Open payment options.
    2. Find the credit card to remove and select Remove.
    3. Confirm by selecting Remove again.

If the card is tied to Azure or other services, it may need to be detached or replaced there first before it can be deleted.
