Stop receiving email after adding alias

Hello,
I was receiving a lot of spam on my authenticator app in my email so I created an alias.
Once I did it I stopped receiving emails for the original email. I do have lots of accounts created on that email and need to restore access. Anyone can help?

    Hi,

Did you set the new alias as your primary sign-in address?

When you add an alias, mail delivery depends on how the account is set. Sign in to your account, go to Your info, then Manage how you sign in. Check if your original address is still listed as an alias and not removed. If it was removed, add it back as an alias. Then go to Outlook on the web, open Settings, Mail, Sync email, and confirm your original address is allowed to receive mail. Also check Rules and Junk Email settings to ensure messages are not being blocked or redirected.

Adding an alias by itself does not stop mail to the original address, so one of these is likely:

    1. The original address was removed as an alias
    2. A rule or setting is diverting or hiding the mail

    Follow these checks in order:

    1. Confirm the original address still exists as an alias
      1. Go to the Manage how you sign in page: Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
      2. Sign in with the account.
      3. Under Account aliases (or Account username), verify that the original email address is still listed.
        • If it was removed and it was a Microsoft-domain address (for example @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com), it is permanently deleted and cannot be restored or re‑used on any Microsoft account.
        • If it was removed and it was a non‑Microsoft domain (for example @gmail.com), it can usually be added back as an alias using Add email on the same page.
    2. If the original address is missing and was Microsoft-domain
      • It cannot be recovered if it was removed as an alias. In that case, keep using the remaining alias as the sign‑in address and update the email address on the external services where that original address was used.
    3. If the original address is still listed as an alias
      • Mail should still arrive to the same Outlook.com mailbox. In that case, check for:
        • Inbox rules or filters that move or delete messages.
        • Junk Email folder.
        • Any connected accounts or forwarding rules that might be redirecting mail.
    4. If the goal is to stop sign‑ins on the original address but still receive mail
      • On the Sign in preferences page for the Microsoft account, keep the original address as an alias but disable it as a sign‑in option instead of deleting it. This keeps it usable for receiving email while preventing it being used to sign in.

If sign‑in to Outlook apps broke after changing the primary alias, remove and re‑add the account in the Outlook app so it picks up the new primary alias configuration.
