Tried renewing Microsoft 365 with a new card and the Bank declined as a suspicious activity as result of your billing system trying to charge the card 5 or more times identical amounts. Now my card is locked. Why?

    Hello,

This is a public forum, so for your privacy and security, we can’t help with billing issues here. Also, no one in this forum has access to your account or payment information.

To get help, open the "Get Help" app on your computer (just search for it in the Start menu). or go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

Banks and card issuers often treat multiple identical charges in a short period as potential fraud. When Microsoft 365 renewal is attempted and the payment fails (for example, due to a mismatch in card details or another issue), the system may retry the same amount several times to collect the subscription payment.

From the bank’s perspective, this can look like suspicious repeated attempts, so their fraud-detection system can automatically decline the transactions and temporarily lock the card to protect against unauthorized use.

    To move forward:

    1. Contact the bank or card issuer and explain that the repeated charges were legitimate Microsoft 365 renewal attempts so they can unlock the card and clear any fraud flags.
    2. After the bank confirms the card is active and unlocked, verify that the card details in the Microsoft account (number, expiry date, name, billing address, and available funds) are correct and match the bank’s records.
    3. Retry the Microsoft 365 renewal once, and if it still fails, contact Microsoft Support for billing help as described in the Microsoft 365 billing documentation.
