You can share your Excel file easily, even if they’re using an iPad.

To help narrow down the issue:

Do your family members have Microsoft accounts?
Do you want them to edit the file or just view it?

Here are the simplest ways:

Option 1: Share via OneDrive (best option)

Save the file to OneDrive > Open the file in Excel > Click Share
Enter their email addresses or copy the link > Set permission (view or edit)
They can open it on their iPad using the Excel app or browser.

Option 2: Send as attachment

Email the file to them
They can open it in Excel on iPad, but changes won’t sync automatically

To share an Excel spreadsheet with family members who use an iPad Pro, first save the file to the cloud (OneDrive or SharePoint), then share a link from Excel on iOS.

On the iPad Pro (Excel for iOS):

Open the workbook in Excel.
Tap the Share icon.
To invite them directly by email:
- Enter their email addresses.
- Turn on Can Edit if they should be able to change the file.
- Optionally add a message.
- Tap Send. They receive an email with a link to open and edit the workbook.
To send just a link (for example via Messages or another app):
- Tap the Share icon.
- Tap Copy Link.
- Paste the link into an email or message app and send it.

Family members can open the link on their iPad Pro. The workbook opens in Excel for the web in a browser, and they can choose Edit Workbook > Edit in Browser to edit online, or Edit in Excel to edit in the Excel app (if installed and supported). Multiple people can co-author at the same time when using supported Excel apps (Excel for iOS, Excel for Android, Excel Mobile, or Excel for Microsoft 365).
