Because the subscription was past due and then renewed, the account may still be in a billing or account-sync state even though access to games is currently working.
Take these steps:
- Confirm the subscription status
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for Game Pass.
- Under Services & subscriptions, check that the Game Pass subscription:
- Shows as Active (not Past due, Expired, or Canceled).
- Shows the correct next billing date.
- Pay any remaining past-due balance
- If the subscription still shows Past due, select Pay now next to it.
- Update or change the payment method if needed (for example, if the card expired) and complete the payment.
- Note that gift cards, subscription cards, or Microsoft account balance cannot be used to pay a past-due subscription.
- Verify payment method
- In the same Services & subscriptions page, select the subscription and ensure the payment method is valid (not expired or blocked).
- If necessary, update the existing payment method or add a new one, then retry Pay now.
- Check for pre-order or billing issues (if this was tied to a bundle or promotion)
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/orders and confirm that any related Game Pass order shows as Completed and not Declined or Pending.
- If there was a failed charge, update the payment method and let the system retry.
- If status looks correct but the subscription still does not appear properly
- There can be short delays between billing updates and what is shown in apps or services.
- If the account page shows the subscription as Active and games are playable, but the subscription label or benefits look wrong, contact Xbox/Microsoft Store support so they can check the account directly.
If, after confirming the subscription is active and fully paid, the account page still does not reflect Game Pass correctly, contact Xbox support via the Contact us flow on the Xbox support site for account-specific investigation.
