Family Safety restrictions can remain on a device even after leaving a family group because the device still has Family Safety settings cached. Run a Family Safety reset on each affected Windows device to clear them.
Follow these steps on the affected PC (while signed in with the impacted account):
- Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type cmd and select OK to open Command Prompt.
- In Command Prompt, copy and paste this command, then press Enter:
schtasks /run /tn "Microsoft\Windows\Shell\FamilySafetyRefreshTask" - Restart the computer.
If the restrictions appear on multiple devices, repeat these steps on each impacted device.
This reset updates the device’s Family Safety configuration so that web filtering, InPrivate blocking, and other child restrictions are removed from the account that is no longer in a family group.
