Hello,
So, I've been using an old HDD from my old laptop because I didn't want to buy a new one. The performance in terms of speed and responsiveness is relatively same; however, I've noticed that my games start crashing a ton. At first, they were crashing at a manageable and reasonable rate but now it has escalated to my games crashing a lot. The most realistic fix I can come up with this is to install a caddy and install an SSD for the speed. Please provide information on if installing the SSD will fix the issue. (RAM usage is 70 when playing games so that can't be an issue.)

Device: Hp ProBook 450 G1 (I have tons of storage so that can't be an issue as well.)

Hello, my name is Jan. The upgrade from HDD to SSD will improve the perfomance and responsiveness of the system. But will not guarantee that it will resolve the game crashing as other factors (system file corruption, game files corruption, overheating , driver issues, other hardware failure) may also contibute to the issues. Here are some things you can try.

    • Use the game’s launcher to verify the integrity of its files.
    • Perform a clean boot to disable unnecessary services and startup processes. clean boot
    • Try cleaning and reinstalling your graphics card driver. Download the latest version from the graphics card manufacturer's support website. Choose the custom/clean install option. Restart your computer. Or DDU to clean the graphics drivers before installing a the latest driver.
    • Fully uninstall any third-party antivirus and cleaners. This softwares can cause issues with system updates and anti-cheat tools.
    • Try to perform an in-place upgrade. This will allow you to update and restore your system without losing files and applications. Download the media creation tool here. Windows 10 Installation Media Then select "ISO". Once downloaded, click on the file or open it in Windows Explorer. Then open or click "Setup" to launch. Make sure the "Keep personal files and apps" boxes are checked.
    • But if none of the suggestion work. You can test whether upgrading from an HDD to an SSD helps resolve the crashing issue by first clean installing to the the SSD. And observe if the system stabilizes.
