Phone Link requires the same Microsoft account on all connected devices and can only actively work with one phone/PC pair at a time. To ensure the Dell PC is the prioritized/active device, do the following checks and re-link if needed:
- Confirm the same Microsoft account is used
- On the Dell PC:
- Open a browser and go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices/android-ios and sign in.
- Verify the Android device is listed under this account.
- On the Android device:
- Open Settings > Accounts (or on some Samsung devices: Settings > Advanced features > Link to Windows).
- Confirm the email shown under Microsoft account matches the one used on the Dell PC.
- On the Dell PC:
- Unlink and re-link the phone to prioritize the Dell PC
- On the Android device:
- Make sure the Link to Windows app is updated to the latest version.
- Open Link to Windows.
- Tap the Microsoft account name under Linked account.
- Go to Account settings > Sign out and unlink account.
- Confirm by tapping Unlink.
- On the Dell PC:
- Open Phone Link.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Add new device.
- Follow the on-screen steps to pair the Android device again.
- On the Android device:
- If another PC is still taking priority
- Repeat the unlink steps on the phone, then:
- Do not sign in to Phone Link on the other PC, or sign out/unlink the phone from that PC’s Phone Link app so only the Dell PC remains actively linked.
- Repeat the unlink steps on the phone, then:
- If connection issues persist
- Ensure both the Dell PC and Android device are powered on and connected to the same Wi‑Fi network.
- Check that no VPN or restrictive firewall is blocking communication.
- If still failing, restart Phone Link on the PC and try the pairing flow again.
