have been trying to edit some document on micro soft word pls how can i fix it ?

If a document opens in Word but changes cannot be made, the document is likely in a view‑only or protected mode. Try these steps:

1. Clear “Always Open Read‑Only”
   1. Open the document in Word.
   2. Select File > Info.
   3. Select Protect Document.
   4. Select Always Open Read‑Only to clear it (or make sure it is not checked).
2. Switch from Viewing/Reviewing to Editing
   1. In the upper‑right corner of the Word window, find the mode menu.
   2. If it shows Viewing or Reviewing, change it to Editing.
3. If still unable to edit
   • Editing may be blocked by the document’s sharing permissions or by rules set by the document owner or system administrator. In that case, request edit permission or open the file in the desktop Word app (if using Word for the web) and adjust restrictions there if allowed.

Also verify that the Microsoft 365 subscription is active; an expired subscription can prevent editing and saving documents.
