I am unable to save my document in file or download due to file permission error

    Are you saving to your Mac locally, or to OneDrive/SharePoint?

    This error is usually permission or location related. Try these quick checks:

    • Save the file to a different location (like Desktop). Does it work?
    • Try File > Save As and rename the file.
    • Check if the file is already open somewhere else (another Word window or user).
    • Right-click the folder > Get Info > make sure your account has Read & Write access.
    • If it’s from email or download, try moving it out of Downloads first.

    Also, are you using Word from Microsoft 365 or a standalone version?
