When Minecraft goes black and crashes, even after trying everything, the most common remaining cause is a corrupted or incompatible graphics pipeline. Still, to make better assessment on the situation, can you clarify a few things for me:
- Have you tried out the standard recovery steps from the Q&A Assist?
- Please share exactly what you have tried to avoid getting repetitive.
- Whether this started recently, or has always been like this?
Since I’m not sure which advanced steps you did, for now, I’ll just suggest everything that might help. In addition, please note that Windows 10 has reached end-of-support so please pardon me if any steps not identical to your system:
1 - Force Minecraft to regenerate its graphics configuration
- Press Win + R > enter
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_* - Rename the
LocalStatefolder (e.g.LocalState-old) > Launch Minecraft again
2 - Roll back the graphics driver (if possible)
- If your GPU driver was updated recently, rolling back is more effective than updating
- Use Device Manager > Display adapters > Properties > Driver > Roll Back
- If you don't have the option, you might need to manually do it:
- Search online for older version of the driver and download
- Check the community for the most stable package.

3 - Check if your GPU meets Minecraft’s current DirectX requirements
- Minecraft for Windows now relies on specific DirectX feature levels
- If your GPU has limited feature support, the game can crash
- In this case, there is no Windows-side/software fix.
4 - Perform an in-place upgrade
- Refer to Reinstall Windows with the installation media - Microsoft Support
- Navigate to the bottom of the page and expand In-place Upgrade.
Disclaimer: An in-place install or in-place upgrade will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes.
If none of the above works, the final path might be to update your hardware. Since Windows 10 is no longer supported, it’s unlikely that new drivers will be released to improve incompatibly issue.
