I retired from a company that used exchange server for all company email. I had, and still have a personal Microsoft account. When I log into my Microsoft account, I still see the old business email address as a log on possibility. The company has blocked all access using the old email address. How can I eliminate all references to the old email address?

    Hello

You said you saw it when you log into your account - I need to know specifically, where is this? Is it on a certain web site on web browser, or certain settings, or certain app? That information is crucial to determine the instruction you need. Please tell me if you can. Or share a screenshot so I can see the context.

The old business email address is showing because it is still listed as an alias or sign-in option on the personal Microsoft account. Remove it from the account’s sign-in preferences so it no longer appears.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Go to Manage how you sign in to your account:
Use this link: Manage how you sign in to your account and sign in with the personal Microsoft account.
    2. Check the list of aliases / account usernames:
Under Account username or Account aliases, locate the old business email address.
    3. Change primary alias if needed:
If the old business address is set as primary, first select Make primary next to a different email address that should be the main sign-in.
    4. Remove the old business email address:
Select Remove next to the old business email alias to eliminate it from the account.
      • Note: If the old address is from a non-Microsoft domain (for example, the company’s own domain), removing it will usually make it immediately available to be used elsewhere, but it will no longer be associated with this Microsoft account.

After this, the old business email address will no longer appear as a sign-in option for the personal Microsoft account.

If the old business account is still appearing only as a Windows sign-in option on the device (for example under Settings > Accounts > Access work or school), it must also be disconnected there by selecting that work account and choosing Disconnect.
