Training: Instruction to develop new skills.
Using the Azure portal for a proof of concept (POC) is fully supported and is a common way to get hands-on experience with Azure services such as App Service, Functions, storage, and deployment.
From a platform perspective, no special Azure-side approval is required just to use the Azure portal itself. The Azure portal is a web-based console that is available to any account with an Azure subscription and appropriate permissions on that subscription. It lets users create, manage, and monitor Azure resources through a graphical interface.
Any additional approval or process depends on internal organizational policies (for example, who is allowed to create subscriptions, what spend limits exist, or who can create specific resources). Those internal steps are outside the scope of the platform documentation.
To proceed technically:
- Ensure access to an Azure subscription (for example, via an organizational or trial subscription).
- Sign in to the Azure portal at https://portal.azure.com.
- Use Home → Create a resource to provision the services needed for the POC (App Service, Functions, storage, etc.).
For POC planning, it is recommended to:
- Identify which Azure regions the organization uses.
- Ensure required Azure services are provisioned and that the account has the necessary access to those resources and to any storage accounts involved.
