Microsoft Learn profiles and Microsoft accounts cannot be merged directly, but Learn profile data (certifications, training progress) can be merged between Learn profiles under certain conditions.
To move Learn profile data and certifications from one account to another:
- Sign in to the Learn profile that should become the final/primary profile (the account to keep).
- Go to Settings → Account Management → Add login account.
- Add the other email account that currently has the Learn profile and certifications.
- If that login is already associated with a different Learn profile, this will trigger a profile merge. Confirm the merge.
- All learning progress, credentials, and transcripts from both profiles will be combined into a single Learn profile.
- After merge, it is still possible to sign in with all login accounts from both profiles.
- Merging profile data cannot be undone.
Important conditions and limitations:
- A Learn profile created with a personal Microsoft account can have up to five work or school accounts added.
- A Learn profile created with a work or school account can have only one personal Microsoft account added.
- A profile merge is only possible if only one of the profiles involved contains a personal Microsoft login account.
- If the limit of five work or school accounts would be exceeded during merge, the merge is canceled and the issue must be resolved before trying again.
If the goal is to completely unlink an old work account from a Learn profile (for example, from a former employer), first add a personal account to that Learn profile, then remove the work account under Settings → Login account Management → Linked accounts → Remove.
Because Microsoft accounts themselves cannot be merged, only the Learn profiles and their data can be consolidated. After a successful merge, continue to use the preferred email to sign in to the unified Learn profile.
