Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Even if the network is slow, the page should not remain frozen.

Please try turning off hardware (graphics) acceleration in your web browser and update your graphics drivers. Let me know if the issue persists after these steps.

To turn off graphics acceleration -

Paste this link in the Edge address bar and turn off the Use graphics acceleration when available toggle.

    edge://settings/system/manageSystem

    User's image

    Restart your web browser.

    ================================================================

    Update your Graphics Driver.

    Go to the Device Manager.

Expand the arrow next to display adapters.

Right-click your dedicated graphics driver (Intel or Nvidia), select Update drivers > Search automatically for available drivers, and click Update.

If Windows did not find any of the latest drivers,

Go to your PC manufacturer's website,

Download and install the latest graphics drivers for your device, then restart it.

Try the following Edge- and browser-focused steps, in order, to resolve a frozen YouTube homepage on Windows 11:

    1. Clear cached data and history in Edge
      1. Open Microsoft Edge.
      2. Select Settings and more (three dots) > History > Open history page.
      3. Select Delete browsing data.
      4. Set Time range to All time.
      5. Select at least Browsing history and Cached images and files (for a deeper reset, select all boxes).
      6. Select Clear now and then fully close and reopen Edge.
    2. Clear all browsing data (deeper reset) If the issue persists:
      1. Again go to Settings and more > History > Open history page.
      2. Choose Delete browsing data.
      3. Set Time range to All time.
      4. Select all boxes and choose Clear now.
      5. Close Edge, then reopen and test YouTube.
    3. Test in another browser and check the network
      1. Open another browser (for example Chrome or Firefox) and try to open YouTube.
      2. If YouTube also fails or freezes there, restart the modem and router, then test again.
      3. If YouTube still does not work in any browser after a network restart, the problem is likely with the network or local security software rather than Edge alone.
    4. Verify third‑party security software If security software such as Norton or McAfee is installed:
      1. Open the security app.
      2. Check for and install any available security updates.
      3. Temporarily disable web filtering or similar protection features and test YouTube again.
    5. Repair Microsoft Edge If the problem appears only in Edge or Edge remains unstable:
      1. Close Microsoft Edge for all users on the device.
      2. Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      3. Find Microsoft Edge, select it, then choose Modify.
      4. When prompted Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?, select Yes.
      5. Ensure the device is connected to the internet and select Repair.
      6. After repair completes, open Edge and test YouTube again.

If YouTube remains frozen in all browsers after these steps and after a modem/router restart, the next focus should be on router-level filtering, DNS, or other network controls, as the behavior is no longer specific to Edge or Windows.
