Upto Finishing up it works. then it restarts automatically and shows The computer restarted unexpectedly or encounted an unexpected error as attached.

Please help how to get this resolved.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

To better understand the situation and identify the cause of the error, could you confirm some information for me?

    • Is this installation on a brand new PC, or are you performing a clean install on a PC that was already in use? If it's a PC that was already in use, did it exhibit any strange behavior that prompted you to perform a clean install, or was it functioning normally?
    • Did you delete all disk partitions before starting the installation, or did you keep old partitions?
    • Are there any other USB devices connected besides the installation flash drive, keyboard, and mouse?

These answers will help identify whether the problem is related to the installation media, a possible BIOS/UEFI setting, or the hardware itself.

    Looking forward to your reply.

Use a clean, minimal setup and reinstall Windows 10 from scratch, as the current upgrade/installation is failing in the boot phases.

    1. On another working PC, create fresh Windows 10 installation media using the Media Creation Tool:
      • Go to the Download Windows 10 site.
      • Under Create Windows 10 Installation Media, select Download Now and run MediaCreationTool.exe.
      • Use it to create a bootable USB (at least 8 GB). This recreates setup files in case the current USB is corrupted.
    2. On the target PC, prepare for installation:
      • Disconnect all nonessential external devices (USB drives, printers, scanners, external disks, etc.).
      • If the PC is in a docking station, undock it.
    3. Boot from the USB and perform a clean install (recommended when setup fails after “Finishing up”):
      • Back up any important data first, because a clean install removes personal files, apps, and settings.
      • Boot the PC from the USB installation media (use the PC’s boot menu or change boot order in firmware/BIOS).
      • When Windows Setup starts, choose language and keyboard, then select Install.
      • Delete existing Windows partitions if doing a full clean install, then install Windows into the unallocated space.
    4. If the PC still fails to boot or complete setup:
      • The issue may be related to device drivers or disk encryption during the first/second boot phases of setup.
      • Disconnect legacy or problematic hardware and ensure any non‑Microsoft disk encryption is removed or disabled before retrying.

If problems persist even with clean media and minimal hardware, analyze upgrade logs or contact Microsoft support for deeper investigation.
