New Version of Outlook - Same Email Editor Bug - Borders on Tables Can't be Hidden

I have had this same issue in New Outlook: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/classic-outlook-adds-table-borders-to-signatures-after-updating-to-version-2512-cb39a7f4-7290-4e59-acce-4d1e6257c54a

It's only been resolved with the workaround of creating my Signature in OneNote and then pasting to editor. I can't copy a table with no borders/no shading from Word to Editor without Outlook adding black borders.

    Hello @Katie Ruane

    I hope you're doing well.

At this time, I’m unable to find any Microsoft documentation that specifically confirms this table‑border behavior as an issue in New Outlook. The only official article published relates to Classic Outlook, where the border problem is caused by Word applying a non‑zero border setting. Since Outlook uses Word as its rendering engine, similar behavior can still occur when creating or pasting tables inside Outlook messages.

The best next step is for you to submit feedback/report to New Outlook Product team. This helps Microsoft engineering understand that the issue persists in the new interface and ensures it is logged and prioritized. User‑submitted feedback is one of the primary channels Microsoft uses when deciding which rendering issues to fix.

    1. Feedback/Report via Outlook app:

    • Open New Outlook
    • Navigate to Help > Feedback > Report a problem / Make a suggestion

     User's image

    • Fill in the form to submit your feedback

    2. Report to Microsoft Feedback portal

    • Go to Outlook · Community
    • Sign in with your Microsoft account
    • Select Send feedback and fill out the form
    • Describe your issue clearly and concisely
    • Submit your request and optionally vote on similar ideas from other users

The Microsoft product team actively reviews customer feedback, and many improvements have been introduced due to user requests. Submitting and voting on feedback is the most effective way to help Microsoft prioritize this feature for future updates.

Apologies for redirecting you to the relevant development team. As forum moderators, we have limited access to backend systems, so we've escalated your request to ensure you receive faster and more accurate support.

In the meantime, we’ll need to wait for Microsoft to adjust the underlying behavior in Word, since Outlook relies on Word’s rendering engine for all table and signature formatting. Once Word’s handling is improved, similar to what was done for Classic Outlook, New Outlook should benefit from the same fix.

The behavior matches a known issue that affected classic Outlook when using Word as the rendering engine: tables set to “no border” in Word were rendered with visible borders in Outlook. This occurred because Word was actually applying a non‑zero border set, which Outlook then displayed.

For classic Outlook, this issue is documented and marked as fixed, with a service-side change rolled out to Current Channel and picked up after restarting Outlook. The documented workaround is exactly what has been used: creating the signature table in OneNote or PowerPoint, then pasting it into Outlook and rebuilding the signature content inside that table.

For New Outlook, the available documentation and known-issues list only describe this problem and its fix for classic Outlook. There is no separate documented fix or different workaround specific to New Outlook in the provided material. Based on the context, the supported workaround remains:

    1. Create the table layout in OneNote or PowerPoint (with no borders).
    2. Paste that table into a new email in Outlook.
    3. Adjust column widths and formatting as needed.
    4. Copy the finished signature from the message body.
    5. Open the signature editor and replace the existing signature with the copied version.

If the issue persists specifically in New Outlook despite using this method, the context points to using community and feedback channels to escalate:

    • Use the in-product feedback mechanism (Help → Feedback) to report that the classic Outlook table-border bug is reproducing in New Outlook.
    • Optionally, use the Outlook Tech Community or Outlook Forum on Answers to track or discuss similar New Outlook rendering issues.
