Designer Compact Keyboard with Surface Pro

Microsoft Bluetooth Designer Compact keyboard does not reconnect after going into inactive/sleep mode (the keyboard's sleep mode, not Windows' sleep), getting turned off manually, or otherwise disconnecting. The keyboard must be deleted and repaired in the bluetooth settings every time. There are multiple threads both here, reddit, and others about this (links below). This problem does not exist on Linux, MacOS, or Win 10 or older (I don't have another Win11 device to test with).

Please help me resolve this, and if not, how can I RMA the keyboard?

    Suggestions:

    Open Device Manager

    Expand Bluetooth

    Right-click your Bluetooth adapter

    Go to Power Management

    Uncheck:

Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Update Surface firmware + Bluetooth driver

Update Surface firmware + Bluetooth driver

    Reinsert and re-pair

    Regarding RMA:

You should consider replacement only if:

    Same issue happens on:

Another Windows PC (Win 10 ideally)

    OR keyboard never reconnects anywhere

Otherwise: Don’t RMA yet — high chance new unit behaves the same
