How do I delete multiple items from my calendar on the OWA 365 NOT THE DESKTOP

Hello - I am trying to delete multiple holds on my calendar using the OWA. There is no option on the web app to switch the view.

When I open up the desktop version, my calendar does not load, so I cannot do it that way. Is there a way to delete multiple items at once on the web version of Microsoft 365?

Thanks!

    Hi @Karin Roseman,

Thank you for reaching out and describing the difficulty you're having deleting multiple calendar items in Outlook on the web. I understand how inconvenient it is when you need to clear several events quickly - especially when the desktop version isn’t loading and the web version doesn’t provide a clear option for switching views or selecting multiple items at once.

Outlook on the web doesn’t offer a true “List View” or a multi‑select grid like classic desktop Outlook, so it isn’t possible to use Ctrl/Shift‑click to select multiple events in bulk. However, you can remove multiple items depending on how those holds were originally created. Please choose the scenario that fits your situation:

1/ If the holds are part of a recurring series

Open any occurrence > click the Recycle bin (Delete) icon > choose This event or All events in the series. Selecting the full series deletes every occurrence in one step (and sends cancellation notices if you’re the organizer).

2/ If the holds are stored on a separate calendar

(For example: an imported calendar, a subscribed calendar, or an additional calendar you created.)

You don’t need to remove events one by one - you can remove the entire calendar layer:

    • In Outlook on the web, open the left calendar pane.
    • Under My calendars or Other calendars, click … (More options) next to the calendar name.
    • Select Remove.

Note: If you're unsure whether the holds belong to a secondary calendar, expand both My calendars and Other calendars to see whether there’s an additional calendar layer. Removing that layer will delete all events inside it at once. (This option isn’t available for the primary/default calendar.)

I hope these steps help. Please give them a try and let me know if the issue continues - we can work through the next steps together.

Outlook on the web does not provide a “List” view or multi-select grid like the desktop client, so there is no built-in way to bulk-delete many calendar items at once directly in OWA.

Available options in Outlook on the web:

    1. Hide or remove calendars instead of deleting items
      • In the calendar navigation pane, clear the check box next to a calendar to remove it from view (this does not delete items or the calendar).
      • Use More options next to a calendar to rename, delete, share, or change color/charm for calendars that are owned.
    2. Move or manage individual items
      • Right-click an event, choose Edit, then More details, and change the calendar or delete that single event.

For true bulk deletion (for example, clearing a calendar or deleting many items at once), this capability is only documented for the Outlook desktop client using View → Change View → List and then selecting all items and deleting them. That specific multi-item delete workflow is not available in Outlook on the web.
