Hi, I have been facing camera issues since I bought this laptop. Sometimes the camera works, and sometimes it doesn’t.

Currently, the issue I am facing is that the camera works normally, but when I use the OmeTV app, it does not work. I have checked the settings multiple times and ensured that camera and microphone permissions are allowed for the app, but still, both are not working.

Please help me fix this issue.

Welcome Unnati Dubey to the Q&A forum!

Based on what you described, you’ve had ongoing camera issues since purchasing the laptop. Currently, the camera works in general, but it does not function in the OmeTV app, even though camera and microphone permissions are enabled.

In addition to the steps suggested by Q&A Assist, there are a few more things you can try.

First, please make sure no other applications are using the camera or microphone in the background. Close all apps that might access the camera, and avoid using any virtual or third‑party camera software. Try accessing OmeTV through a browser, confirm that camera and microphone permission is allowed in the browser settings and that your built‑in camera is selected as the default device for OmeTV.

As a workaround, you can also try triggering the camera permission prompt directly from within the OmeTV app:

Go to Profile > Upload a photo, then choose Take photo instead of selecting one from the library. When the app attempts to access the camera, allow permission again if prompted, and then test whether the camera works afterward.

Lastly, check the camera driver in Device Manager and make sure it is up to date: Right‑click Start > Device Manager > Cameras, right‑click your camera, choose Update driver > Search automatically, then restart the PC. Apply the same steps to the Audio inputs and outputs section.

Hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes!

Follow these steps in Windows 11 to isolate and fix the issue where the camera and microphone work generally but not in the OmeTV app:

    1. Confirm the camera works in the Windows Camera app
      • Select Start > Camera.
      • Check if the preview works.
      • If the camera works here but not in OmeTV, the problem is specific to OmeTV or its settings.
    2. Check Windows camera privacy settings
      • Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Camera.
      • Make sure Camera access is turned on.
      • Make sure Let apps access your camera is turned on.
      • In the list of apps, ensure the browser or OmeTV app being used has access enabled.
      • If Camera access is greyed out, an administrator must enable it.
    3. Close other apps that might be using the camera
If another app is using the camera, OmeTV may not be able to access it.
      • Close all apps that might use the camera (Teams, Zoom, Skype, other browsers).
      • Right‑click the taskbar, select Task Manager, and end any app that might be using the camera.
      • Reopen OmeTV and test again.
    4. Check microphone permissions similarly
      • Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
      • Ensure Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone are turned on, and that the browser/OmeTV app is allowed.
    5. Update Windows and restart
      • Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • If View optional updates appears, check for camera‑related driver updates and install them.
      • Restart the PC via Start > Power > Restart (do not just wake from sleep).
      • Test the camera again in the Camera app and then in OmeTV.
    6. Run the Windows camera troubleshooter
    7. Check antivirus/firewall software
      • Some antivirus or firewall tools can block camera or microphone access.
      • Temporarily disable camera/mic protection features in the antivirus settings and test OmeTV.
      • If it works only when antivirus is disabled, adjust that product’s settings to allow camera/mic access for OmeTV.

If the camera and microphone work in the Camera app and in other apps after these steps but still fail only in OmeTV, the remaining issue is likely with OmeTV itself (its in‑app settings or service), and support from OmeTV would be required.
