Hi MS support team,

I have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription with my laptop, but unable to see any desktop apps built in, neither unable to install from the App Store? How can i fix this without affecting my Outlook and Teams account? I have initially tried reinstalling with new ID creation, but still only the web apps work and not the desktop apps. Could you help me please,

Thanks,

NN

    Hi @Naresh Neelakantan,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot. The “Administrative Privileges Required” error while installing Office from portal.office.com is a local Windows permission issue, not a Microsoft 365 license or account problem.

The message “Administrative Privileges Required” (Error Code 0‑2005 (1223)) appears when:

    • The Windows account you’re currently signed into does not have local administrator rights, or
    • You did not approve the User Account Control (UAC) prompt during installation

Office installation requires permission to make system‑level changes, which standard (non‑admin) Windows accounts cannot do by themselves.

You can fix it by trying the following steps:

    1. Run the installer explicitly as Administrator

    After downloading OfficeSetup.exe:

    • Open your Downloads folder
    • Right‑click OfficeSetup.exe
    • Select Run as administrator
    • When prompted by Windows, select Yes
    1. Make sure your Windows account is a local administrator

If the error continues, confirm your account has admin rights:

    • Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Change your account type
    • Your account must be listed as Administrator

Please follow this guide to check if you have admin rights: Check if you have local admin rights to install Office - Microsoft Support

    1. Ensure User Account Control (UAC) is enabled

Office setup will fail if UAC is turned off:

    • Control Panel > Security and Maintenance
    • Expand Security
    • Confirm User Account Control is On

Restart the PC after enabling it, then retry the install.

You can find more information about this error via this article: Administrative privileges required or error code 0-1005 or 0-2005 when installing Office - Microsof…

I hope this helps you resolve the issue quickly. I’m glad to assist and truly hope the information provided has been useful. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you need further assistance.

    Hi @Naresh Neelakantan,

Good day and thank you for clearly presenting your concern.

First of all, please sign in to your work account and verify the license:

    1. Go to https://portal.office.com/
    2. Sign in with your Business Standard account
    3. Select Subscriptions
    4. Confirm Microsoft 365 Business Standard is listed

If you don’t see it, the license may not be assigned correctly.

Once the correct license is assigned, you can download the apps directly from your web browser. Installing Office from the Microsoft Store is not recommended for business subscriptions. Please follow the steps below to download and install Microsoft 365 apps.

    1. Sign in to https://portal.office.com/ with your Business Standard account
    2. Select Apps & Devices
