Change country for M365 subscription

Question

I've moved from Canada to USA and need to renew my M365 subscription. I need to purchase a USA subscription, but cannot change my country field or select USA, as it is defaulting to Canada. I have updated my account profile already to be USA.

Go to Settings > Time and Language> Region > Correct country.

The country/region of a Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be changed. The country where the subscription was originally set up (Canada) controls available services, taxes, billing currency, and data center location.

To use a US-based Microsoft 365 subscription instead of the Canadian one:

1. Cancel or let the existing Canadian subscription expire
   • It is not possible to purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription for a different region (USA) while an active subscription for another region (Canada) is still associated with the same account.
   • Options from the documentation:
     • Wait for the existing (Canada) Microsoft 365 subscription to expire, if the expiration date is soon.
     • Or cancel the existing subscription.
2. After the Canadian subscription is gone
   • Sign up for a new Microsoft 365 subscription and choose United States as the country/region when creating the new subscription/account.
   • Then purchase the US subscription using US billing details.
