Lost Admin account acces, can't use authenticator anymore, no acces to invoicing

This probably has been asked plenty of times... but i'd like to ask regardless.

I am from belgium, have a MS 365 business pack for my company.

Im getting automated invoices through peppol (registration system in belgium) but they are not official and do not have correct credentials (banknumber iban etc).

I have acces to all my sub accounts with the domain but no acces to my main account so i cannot log in to the admin page to see the invoices there.

Lost acces to authenticator aswel so everytime i try to log in i keep getting redirected.

Getting through the AI phone assistant is a real pain...

I have tried several times over the past year, gotten in twice.

Ticket was made and i was expecting a call but it never happend.

So the problem remains... no acces to invoices means im not paying them. and im getting recalls on the monthly now so i'd like to solve this problem asap.

Tnx in advance for any help on this matter

To regain access to the global admin account and your official Microsoft 365 invoices, the only supported path in this situation is to work with Microsoft support/Data Protection so they can verify identity and reset access.

Because access to the Microsoft Authenticator app is lost and there is no other MFA method, and because there is only one admin on the tenant, self-service recovery is not sufficient. Use the following approach:

    1. Call Microsoft customer service and reach the Data Protection team
      • Use the regional Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support line.
      • When the IVR/bot asks questions, follow a pattern like:
        • Problem type: say “Authenticator” or “Lost account”.
        • Product: “Office 365 for business”.
        • Account type: “For companies”.
        • Are you an administrator?: “Yes”.
        • Any other administrators?: “No”.
        • Do you need a service request?: “Yes – I need a ticket and to speak with the Data Protection team; I’m locked out as the only admin.”
      • Clearly state that:
        • This is a Microsoft 365 Business tenant.
        • You are the only global admin.
        • MFA is enforced and only Microsoft Authenticator was configured, which is no longer accessible.
        • You cannot access the admin center or invoices and are receiving payment reminders.
    2. If phone support keeps looping or fails, create a temporary trial tenant to open a ticket
If it is impossible to get to a human agent via phone, use the documented workaround:
      • Sign up for a new Microsoft 365 trial tenant (any business/enterprise trial is fine).
      • After the trial tenant is created, go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for that new tenant.
      • In the admin center, open Support → Help & support.
      • Create a support ticket that explicitly states:
        • You are locked out of a different, existing Microsoft 365 tenant where you are the sole global admin.
        • Provide:
          • The admin email address of the locked tenant.
          • The tenant’s domain name.
          • Description of the MFA/Authenticator lockout.
          • That you cannot access invoices or billing.
      • Ask for the case to be routed to Data Protection / Tenant Recovery so they can verify ownership and reset MFA or restore admin access.
      • After the original tenant issue is resolved, cancel the trial in the trial tenant’s admin center under Billing → Your products to avoid charges.
    3. Prepare verification information
Data Protection may ask for proof that the business and tenant belong to the company, for example:
      • Official business registration documents.
      • Proof of domain ownership.
      • Company details that match what is on the tenant.
Having these ready will speed up the process.

Once Data Protection verifies identity, they can reset MFA/clear security info for the global admin so sign-in to the admin center is possible again and invoices can be accessed and paid normally.
