Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
The message “you can’t do that here” typically appears when trying to manage or confirm Microsoft account security info (like a phone number) from a place that doesn’t support full account management, such as within an app, embedded sign-in window, or certain product settings pages.
To confirm or manage the phone number, use the dedicated Microsoft account pages instead of the in-app prompt:
- Go directly to the Microsoft account security page in a full browser:
- Sign in at the Microsoft account dashboard, then open the Security section.
- Or go directly to the security area via the links below.
- Use the guided sign-in helper if sign-in fails:
- Open the Sign-in helper and enter the email address or mobile number used for the account. The tool checks for known issues and provides specific steps to fix them.
- If still unable to sign in at all:
- Use the general Can’t sign in guided tool for Microsoft accounts, which walks through recovery and sign-in problems.
These tools and pages are designed for changing or confirming security info like phone numbers and should not show the “you can’t do that here” message.
