Azure support request – “Next” button disabled for Severity B/C, enabled only for Severity A

I am trying to create a new Azure support request via the Azure Portal, but I’m blocked unless I select Severity A.

Steps and behavior:

  1. Go to Azure Portal → Support + troubleshooting → New support request
  2. Allow collection of advanced diagnostic information = Yes
  3. Support plan = Azure Support Plan – Internal
  4. Select Severity:
    • B (Moderate impact) → “Next” button stays disabled (gray)
    • C (Minimal impact) → “Next” button stays disabled (gray)
    • A (Critical impact) → “Next” button becomes enabled immediately

There are no validation errors shown and all visible required fields on the page are filled.

Changing browsers and refreshing the page does not help.

This happens consistently and is reproducible.

Question:

  • Is this behavior expected for Azure Support Plan – Internal / Standard plans?
  • Are Severity B and C support requests intentionally blocked in the portal and required to go through Microsoft Q&A (Priority Community Support) instead?
  • If so, is there official documentation confirming this flow?

I want to avoid opening Severity A incorrectly, since this is not a critical outage.

    Hi,

Recently they changed it whereby for Standard support Severity B or C requests must be posted here on Q & A. A Microsoft External Staff will respond to your question and create a Technical support request if they determine it is necessary.

With the above in mind, please Ask a new question with details of the issue. If needed you will be able to provide confidential information via Private message feature.

Priority Community Support (PCS) for Azure technical support
