Other features or issues related to Microsoft Partner Center
In Partner Center, tax and payout setup is done through the Payout and tax profile area under Account settings, and it is only available when the account is correctly associated with a payout account and Microsoft account.
To surface the missing options and complete the requirement:
- Associate a Microsoft account for payouts
In Partner Center:- Go to Account settings.
- Under Financial details, select Associate your Microsoft account.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account that is not already associated with another Partner Center account.
- Sign out of Partner Center, then sign back in using this Microsoft account.
- Add a payout account (bank or PayPal)
After signing in with the associated Microsoft account:- Go again to Account settings → look for Payout and tax profile / Financial details.
- Choose Add payout account (bank account or PayPal).
- Enter the required bank/PayPal details (account type, account holder name, account number/routing, billing address, phone, or PayPal email).
Note: Changing or adding a payout account can delay payments by up to one payout cycle while the account is verified.
- Complete the tax profile
Still under Account settings → Payout and tax profile:- Review the Tax profile section.
- Confirm the correct Entity type and Tax Certificate Information are shown.
- Select Edit to open the tax profile pages.
- Specify country/region of residence and citizenship and complete the required US tax form:
- W‑9 if meeting US residency requirements.
- W‑8 if outside the US.
- Submit the forms electronically.
- Wait for validation
After submitting payout and tax details, Partner Center will validate them. Until validation completes, payout status can show as Action required, and the Store will continue to show that tax and payout information must be updated.
If the Associate your Microsoft account or Payout and tax profile sections still do not appear after these steps (and after signing out/in and trying a different browser), the account configuration is likely blocked or incomplete on the backend. In that case, continue working with Partner Center support (referencing the existing incident ID) so they can correct the account state; UI buttons will not appear until the account is in a valid state for payouts.
