i can't see my contact list

I am seeing numerous recent reports of problems with contacts in New Outlook for Windows. e.g.:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5818600/all-my-contacts-are-missing-with-the-new-outlook-h

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5831169/contact-list-not-displayed-in-new-outlook

1 -- Are you experiencing the same problem? If so, there does not appear to be an official acknowledgement of the problem from Microsoft and no fix that I have seen.

2 -- Are you using a Microsoft email account (e.g. one that ends with "@outlook.com". If so, can you see your contacts if you use Outlook Web? https://outlook.live.com/

but the contacts are still available for new mail

If you mean that you see suggested email addresses when typing on the "To:" line in a new email, I think what you are seeing are "Suggested people - Expanded suggestions". i.e. Outlook remembers email addresses your have sent to or received from in the past.

    Hello,

Are you signed in with the same email account where your contacts are stored?

In new Outlook, go to People from the left menu. On the left pane, expand your account and select Contacts. If the list is empty, select Filter or View options and clear any filters. Then go to Settings > Accounts > Your account > Sync, and turn on Contacts sync. After that, close and reopen Outlook to refresh the contact list.
