"Mark Areas to Keep/Remove" ribbons on Background Remove are not popping up

I am trying to remove the background on some photos in Power Point but when I click "Remove Background," I am automatically taken to the "Edit Picture" page where the program removes the background. However, there is no further option for me to manually refine it. The Mark Areas to Keep/Remove ribbons are no longer shown. How do I get those back?

    Hello,

The solution outlined here should help: Is there anyway to use the OLD Remove background tool instead of the new slop?

Just a quick note: the link will take you to a different community space outside of Microsoft Q&A.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,

Are you using the simplified ribbon or the full ribbon in PowerPoint?

Select the picture, go to Picture Format, then choose Remove Background. If “Mark Areas to Keep/Remove” is missing, turn off the simplified ribbon at the top right or maximize the window so all commands show. If still missing, update Office from File > Account > Update Options > Update Now to restore the full background removal tools.
