Outlook password reset - urgent

Hello, I’m trying to reset my Outlook password. I have access to both my recovery email and my phone number for two-step verification. However, when I enter the verification code, I’m prompted to confirm my phone number. After doing so, I receive an error message saying, “Sorry, this verification is not working right now. Please try again later.”

I’ve been experiencing this issue for over a week and urgently need access to my email. I have not been able to find a way to contact support directly, so I’m hoping you can assist me in resolving this issue as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Hi! For this type of problem, you should check if your account is blocked:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/unblock-my-outlook-com-account-f4ad2701-d166-4d8b-8a6a-9af2a1f8a4c4

    • Try logging in without a password. Use an email code or authenticator. Click on Other login options.
    • Try logging in on another device, such as a mobile phone or another computer.
    • Use a different internet connection, such as mobile data.

Use the standard Microsoft account recovery and verification flows, then contact support if the error persists.

    1. Try password reset again using different conditions
      • Go to Recover your account and follow the reset steps: Recover your account.
      • When prompted for verification, choose the recovery email or phone and select Get code.
      • Enter the code, then complete the password reset.
      • If the “verification is not working right now” error appears again, try:
        • A different browser (or InPrivate/Incognito mode) and clear cookies/cache.
        • A different device (PC/phone) and a different network (for example, mobile data instead of home Wi‑Fi).
    2. If verification codes fail or won’t arrive
      • Follow the guidance in Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues. If a code cannot be obtained or used, choose another verification method if available, or wait until the service allows verification again.
      • If access to some security info is available and the password is known, update security methods via Advanced security options: Sign in, then Add a new way to sign in or verify, confirm it, and remove any outdated method.
    3. If locked out or rate-limited
      • Microsoft may temporarily lock verification and recovery after too many attempts. In that case, wait for the lockout period (often about 24 hours) without further attempts, then try again.
      • If the daily limit for recovery or verification is reached, wait until the next day before retrying.
    4. If none of the verification options work
    5. Contact Microsoft Support
      • If the error persists for days, use the sign‑in helper and support options:
        • Run the Sign-in helper to diagnose sign‑in issues: Sign-in helper.
        • Then go to Contact Microsoft Support, describe the problem, and select Get Help. If still unresolved, choose Contact Support to reach a support option: Contact Microsoft Support.
      • Note: For security, support agents cannot send password reset links, verification codes, or directly change account details.
