Does this problem remain if you restart your computer? In that case, I would recommend that you perform an Online Repair; see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b .

    Hi there,

Let us do some troubleshooting on this.

Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.

    Type "word.exe /safe"

    Press Enter.

This opens Word in Safe mode. Please let me know if it works fine.

Use an Online Repair of Microsoft 365/Office; the in‑app “Repair now” prompt often does not fully fix this error.

    Follow these steps on Windows:

    1. Close all Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
    2. Open Settings > Apps (or Apps & features / Installed apps, depending on Windows version).
    3. Find the Microsoft 365/Office installation in the list.
    4. Select it and choose Modify.
    5. Select Online Repair, then confirm.
      • This runs a deeper repair and may effectively reinstall Office while keeping documents and most settings.
    6. When the repair completes, restart the computer and try opening Word and PowerPoint again.

If the apps still crash after an Online Repair, completely uninstall Office from Settings > Apps, restart the PC (not just shut down), and then reinstall Office from the Microsoft account services page associated with the subscription.
