    Hi michael bamford,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how important it is to have a fully functional external keyboard, especially when the built‑in keyboard is difficult to use.

When a Logitech POP Icon Keys keyboard shows as paired in Windows 11 but does not respond to typing, it usually means the keyboard is not fully connected as an input device or the keyboard driver did not initialize correctly.

To resolve this issue, please try the steps below in order:

1, Confirm the keyboard is fully connected

    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices
    • Locate Logi POP Icon Keys
    • Ensure the status shows Connected (not just Paired)
    • If it shows Paired, remove the device and pair it again

    2, Re‑pair the keyboard

    • Turn the keyboard off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on
    • Press and hold one Easy‑Switch key (1 / 2 / 3) until the light blinks
    • In Windows, select Add device > Bluetooth > Logi POP Icon Keys
    • If prompted for a PIN, type it on the POP keyboard and press Enter

    3, Refresh the keyboard driver

    • Right‑click Start > Device Manager
    • Expand Keyboards
    • Right‑click HID Keyboard Device and choose Uninstall
    • Restart the PC (the driver will reinstall automatically)

    4, Quick hardware check

    • If possible, briefly test the keyboard on another device
    • If it works elsewhere, the issue is connection‑related
    • If it does not work, the keyboard may require service

Optional workaround that you can consider (recommended for stability):

    • The POP Icon Keys also support connection using a Logi Bolt USB receiver, which avoids Bluetooth‑related issues entirely.

While troubleshooting, you may also enable On‑Screen Keyboard from Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard to assist with input.

Try these steps in order, using accessibility features to help while troubleshooting.

    1. Confirm the keyboard is really connected
    • Make sure the Pop Keys is turned on and in the correct Bluetooth/receiver mode (check its switch or connection key).
    • If it uses batteries, put in fresh batteries.
    • On the laptop, check that Bluetooth is on and that the keyboard shows as “Connected,” not just “Paired.” If it only shows as paired, remove it and pair again:
      • Remove the device from Bluetooth devices.
      • Put the keyboard back into pairing mode.
      • Add it again from Bluetooth settings.
    • If you are prompted for a PIN and don’t know it:
      • Check the keyboard’s documentation or label.
      • If none is shown, try 0000 or 1234.
      • If there is nowhere on screen to type the PIN, type 0000 on the Pop Keys keyboard itself, then press Enter.
    1. Check for basic hardware issues
    • If possible, briefly test the Pop Keys on another PC or device. If it also does not type there, the keyboard may be faulty.
    • If another external keyboard works fine on the Acer laptop, the issue is likely with the Pop Keys itself.
    1. Use an on-screen keyboard as a backup Because of tremor and vision, enabling easier input can help while fixing the hardware issue:
    • Press Windows logo key+U to open Accessibility settings.
    • Select Keyboard.
    • Turn on On-screen keyboard. This lets input be done with a mouse or other pointing device.
    • If keyboard shortcuts are easier, press Windows logo key+Ctrl+O to toggle the on-screen keyboard.
    1. Adjust keyboard accessibility to help with tremor In Accessibility > Keyboard:
    • Turn on Sticky keys so multi-key shortcuts (like Ctrl+S) can be pressed one key at a time.
    • Turn on Filter keys to ignore brief or repeated keystrokes caused by tremor.
    • Turn on Toggle keys if audio feedback is helpful when Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock are pressed.
    1. If it’s a Bluetooth-specific issue
    • If the Pop Keys is Bluetooth-based and shows as connected but still doesn’t type, remove it and pair again as above.
    • If pairing repeatedly succeeds but keys never work, and the keyboard works on another device, update or reinstall Bluetooth and keyboard drivers from Acer’s support site, or contact Acer/Logitech support for a possible compatibility or driver issue.

If none of these steps help and the keyboard works elsewhere, the combination of this keyboard model and the laptop’s Bluetooth/USB stack may require vendor support or replacement hardware.
