Welcome Mike Bennett,
I understand how frustrating it can be after upgrading to Windows 11 and installing Microsoft 365, you are unable to add your BT Email account to Outlook.
Before proceeding, I need to narrow this down slightly:
- Does the setup fail during automatic configuration, or after you enter the password?
In the meantime, you can try the workaround steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Step 1: Open Outlook and select Add account
Step 2: Enter your full BT email address and select Continue
Step 3: When automatic setup fails, select the option to set up the account manually
Step 4: Choose IMAP as the account type
Step 5: Enter the following server details exactly as provided by BT:
- Incoming mail server: mail.btinternet.com
- Port: 993
- Encryption method: SSL/TLS
- Outgoing mail server: mail.btinternet.com
- Port: 465
- Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Step 6: Use your full BT email address as the username, enter the password, then complete the setup
I really hope that the information I gave above was helpful to you. Please feel free to reply below and let me know if you have further concern on this matter.
