The “we encountered an error, please try again” message during AI-102 exam scheduling is a known generic scheduling failure. Use these steps to resolve it:
- Confirm basic scheduling rules
- Ensure no more than two Microsoft Certification exams are already scheduled with Pearson VUE at the same time. If two are scheduled, cancel or complete one before scheduling another.
- Make sure the exam date is within 90 days from today, as exams cannot be scheduled further out.
- Try scheduling again from the Learn profile
- Go to the AI-102 exam or certification page and use the Schedule exam button.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account linked to the certification profile.
- Ensure the legal name in the Learn profile exactly matches the ID and complete the required address/phone/email fields before being redirected to Pearson VUE.
- Check for Pearson VUE account issues
- An “unexpected error” at the last step can be caused by a Pearson VUE–side block (for example, after multiple failed payments). In that case, only Pearson VUE support can remove the block.
- Use the Pearson VUE contact link provided on the Microsoft Certification support page to have them check for ERROR_VUE_WIDE_BLOCK or similar account blocks.
- Use Microsoft Certification Support if the error persists
- If the error continues after verifying Pearson VUE, open a ticket via Microsoft Certification Support so a moderator/agent can review the certification profile and scheduling flow.
- If this is related to a free exam offer or voucher
- During checkout, verify that the total due is $0.00 if using a promo/voucher. If the page fails at this step with an error, contact Certification Support with details of the offer and screenshots of the failure.
Following these steps—especially checking Pearson VUE for account blocks and then using Microsoft Certification Support if needed—is the supported path to clear this scheduling error for AI-102.
