Good morning,

For my Microsoft 365 account:

I already updated my payment details and the "Don't lose your benefits - Billing Issue" pop up won't stop appearing. Please help me get this resolved.

The correct credit card (Visa 9XX1) is already on file.

Thanks for your assistance

    Hi Alexander,

Typically removing and re-adding the card solves the issue.

    1. Go to Microsoft Account → Sign in
    2. Open Your info / Payment & billingPayment options
    3. Under saved cards → select the card → click Remove → confirm
    4. Click Add a new payment method
    5. Choose Credit/Debit Card
    6. Enter the same card details again → Save
    7. Optional: Set it as Default payment method if required
    8. Sign out and sign back in once to refresh billing info

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

Follow these steps to clear the persistent “Billing issue / Don’t lose your benefits” message after updating the card:

    1. Confirm the subscription is actually active
      1. Close all Office apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
      2. Go to the Subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
      3. Sign in with the same Microsoft account used in the Office apps.
      4. Under Microsoft 365, verify that the status is Active (not Expired or Past due).
      5. If it’s expired or suspended, renew it following the steps in Renew Microsoft 365 Family from the article.
    2. Verify the payment method shows no errors
      1. Close all Office apps again.
      2. Go to the Payment options page: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments
      3. Sign in with the same Microsoft account.
      4. Check the Visa card ending in 9XX1:
        • Make sure it has no warning or error message.
        • If there is an error, select the card and update the details (name, billing address, expiration date, CVV) and save.
      5. If the card number itself changed, add it as a new payment method and move the subscription to that new method instead of editing the old number.
    3. Restart Office and confirm sign‑in
      1. After fixing any payment issues, restart Word/Excel/Outlook.
      2. In an Office app, go to File > Account and confirm the signed‑in account is the same one where the subscription is active.
      3. If not, sign out and sign back in with the correct Microsoft account.

If the subscription is active, the Visa 9XX1 shows no errors on the Payment options page, and the correct account is signed in, the banner should disappear after a short time. If it does not, contact Microsoft support from the account portal so they can check for any backend billing flags on the subscription.
