A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the sign-in loop and error when trying to log into Minecraft with a Microsoft account:
- Run the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper
- Go to the Sign-in Helper.
- Enter the email or phone number used for the Microsoft account.
- Complete the guided checks. If a problem is detected (for example, security lock, unusual sign-in, or account issue), follow the instructions provided there to fix it.
- Confirm the account itself works
- Sign in directly at https://login.live.com/ with the same Microsoft account.
- If sign-in fails or shows any error, use the Recover your account flow:
- Go to Recover your account.
- Enter the email/phone/Skype name and follow the steps to reset the password and verify identity.
- If the username is not recognized or still cannot sign in after reset, follow the guidance in My username and password have stopped working and, if needed, use Contact support from that page.
- Fix possible browser sign-in loop
The behavior of being redirected back to the sign-in page repeatedly matches the documented cookie/security-zone issue.
- Make sure these sites are not in the browser’s Trusted Sites list (Internet Explorer / legacy Edge environments):
-
microsoft.com -
support.microsoft.comand any subdomains -
login.live.com -
login.microsoftonline.com
-
- If organizational policy requires any of them in Trusted Sites, ensure all of them are added so cookies can be shared correctly.
- After adjusting, close all browser windows, reopen the browser, and try signing in again.
- Make sure these sites are not in the browser’s Trusted Sites list (Internet Explorer / legacy Edge environments):
- Sign in to Microsoft first, then Minecraft
- Sign in at https://login.live.com/ and confirm the account is authenticated.
- In a new tab, go to minecraft.net and choose Sign in with Microsoft. Because the session is already active, this often bypasses the loop.
- Check for unusual sign-in or security blocks
- Go to the Security basics page.
- Select Review activity and check for unusual sign-in attempts.
- If any activity is not recognized, mark it as This wasn’t me or Secure your account, then:
- Change the password from the same Security basics page.
- If sign-in is blocked due to security, follow the prompts there to unblock.
If all of the above are completed and the Microsoft account works normally on other Microsoft sites but minecraft.net still loops on sign-in, contact Minecraft Support separately, as the Microsoft account side is handled through the flows above while game access issues are handled by the Minecraft team.
