    Hi frantz cayo

I understand why this is confusing, especially since Skype has already been retired and you’re trying to keep your number with a new carrier. As of now, the transfer of a Skype Number is still handled by having the new carrier start the port request on their side, rather than from Skype directly.

Have you got the chance to check the AI answer yet? Its advice is excellent. To make this as easy as possible for you to follow, I have organized AI advice into a structured workflow for you below.

If your Skype Number is from France, please contact Voxbone/Bandwidth at +33 8 05 08 09 75 to request the RIO (Relevé d'identité opérateur) code, then provide that code to your new carrier so they can continue the transfer. If the RIO is not received by SMS within 2 days, Microsoft’s guidance is to use the request RIO via email option.

If your number is not from France, the next step would normally be to work directly with the new carrier, since they are the party that initiates and tracks the porting request.

Thank you so much for your understanding.

To port a Skype Number to a new carrier, the porting request is always initiated with the new carrier, not from Skype or Teams.

    For most countries:

    1. Contact the new phone carrier where the number should be moved.
    2. Tell them the number is currently a Skype Number and that the carrier must initiate a port-in request.
    3. Provide any account details they request so they can submit the port order. The “request order number” (porting order, case ID, etc.) is created and managed by the new carrier as part of their porting process.

For Skype Numbers in France specifically:

    1. Call the Voxbone/Bandwidth toll‑free number: +33 8 05 08 09 75.
    2. Request the RIO (Relevé d'identité opérateur) code for the Skype Number.
    3. If the RIO is not received by SMS within 2 days, use the request RIO via email option.
    4. After requesting by email, open a case with Skype customer support stating: “Email RIO for Number XXXX” so support can provide the RIO.
    5. Give the RIO to the new carrier so they can create and track the porting order on their side.

Note: Skype Numbers cannot be moved into a Teams Free personal account. Teams Free does not support phone calling options; phone calling is only available with Teams for business plus the appropriate Teams Phone licensing.
