I'm trying to login to the Azure portal and I keep getting a failed blue sign on error. This is my first time trying this.

Try these steps in order to troubleshoot the first-time sign-in failure to the Azure portal:

    1. Confirm the correct portal URL and directory
      • Go to the Azure portal using a private/incognito window:
      • If there are multiple accounts in the browser, make sure to pick the intended work/school or personal account when prompted.
    2. Clear cached sign-in data
      • If the page hangs or loops on sign-in, clear browser cache and cookies, then try again:
        • Edge: Settings → Privacy and Services → Clear browsing data → select Browsing history, Download history, Cookies, and Cached images and files → Delete.
        • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data.
    3. Check for automatic sign-in as a different user
      • If the portal is automatically using another account:
        • Sign out of all Microsoft accounts in the browser.
        • Clear cookies as above.
        • Use a private/incognito window and sign in only with the account intended for Azure training.
    4. Verify password and MFA
      • Make sure the password is correct and not expired. If needed, reset it using the standard Microsoft account or work/school password reset flow.
      • If Multi-Factor Authentication is enabled and an error like “account verification system is having trouble” appears, ensure the correct verification code is entered or try another verification option (call, text, or another method) and verify phone numbers are correct in the account’s security settings.
    5. If the tenant or subscription looks inaccessible
      • If sign-in succeeds but Azure shows “No subscriptions found,” verify the correct directory is selected from the account menu in the top-right of the portal. If still no subscription appears, the account may not have an active subscription or sufficient permissions.
      • If an error indicates the tenant is blocked or inactive (for example, AADSTS5000225), the tenant administrator must contact Microsoft support to request reactivation within the allowed time window.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, use a private browsing session and attempt to sign in again, then contact Microsoft support from outside the portal (phone or web support entry point) with the exact error text shown on the blue sign-in failure screen.
