Word has stopped working. I have updated my Windows and Microsoft, done both quick and online repair to Word, with no results. What's next?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

"Let me know if you are still having issues even after uninstalling and reinstalling Office applications on your device."

To uninstall it completely, you can use the Office uninstall troubleshooter -

    https://aka.ms/SaRA-officeUninstallFromPC

This will open the 'Get Help' app on your device.

Follow the prompts to completely uninstall Office apps.

Once uninstalled, you can install the Office applications from your Microsoft account here-

Since Windows and Office are already updated and both Quick and Online Repair have been run with no success, the next recommended steps are:

    1. Run a full Online Repair of Office again from Windows Settings (this is more thorough than the in‑app “Repair now” prompt):
      • Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps & Features (Windows 10).
      • Find the Microsoft 365/Office product, select it, then choose Modify.
      • Select Online Repair > Repair, and complete the process.
      • This often reinstalls Office and fixes deeper issues than the in‑app repair.
    2. If Word still will not work after Online Repair, completely reinstall Office:
      • Uninstall Microsoft 365/Office from Settings > Apps > Installed apps/Apps & Features.
      • Restart the computer (not just shut down).
      • Reinstall Office from the Microsoft account where the subscription or license is registered (for example, via https://account.microsoft.com/services as described in the referenced guidance).

These steps go beyond the built‑in “Repair now” and standard Quick Repair and are the recommended next actions when Word continues to fail with “has run into an error” or “has stopped working” messages.
