For MS-700 (Managing Microsoft Teams), Microsoft does not publish an exact breakdown of subjects by number of questions, nor a fixed count of labs for the exam.
What is documented:
- Skills/subject areas covered
The official study guide lists the skill areas and topics the exam may cover (for example, configuring and managing a Teams environment, external collaboration, etc.), but not how many questions per area. Use the study guide and linked learning paths to understand the scope:
- Study guide and skills outline: see the MS-700 study guide and its “Purpose of this document” and “Study resources” sections.
- Number of questions and timing
MS-700 is an associate-level, role-based exam. For such exams:
- Typical question count: 40–60 questions (this can vary as the exam is updated).
- Exam duration for associate/expert role-based exams that may contain labs: 120 minutes of exam time, 140 minutes seat time.
- Labs: presence and structure
Microsoft does not guarantee or list which specific exams currently have labs, and labs can be removed at any time (for example, due to Azure or bandwidth issues). Instead:
- When registering, the booking page shows the exam time, not whether labs are present.
- When launching the exam, the intro/overview pages will state whether labs are included and how many labs and tasks there are.
- If an exam has labs:
- It will have at least 1 lab.
- Each lab has 7–15 tasks.
- Labs appear as the last section of the exam.
- The overview page before the first lab tells how many labs and tasks are included; that is the only authoritative breakdown for that sitting.
- How to plan for labs during the exam
For exams that include labs:
- All traditional questions (multiple choice, drag and drop, etc.) are answered first while labs load.
- Once leaving a section (case study or labs), it cannot be revisited; review must be done before leaving that section.
- Tasks in labs generally take about 3× longer than a traditional question, so time must be managed accordingly.
- Do not wait for long-running tasks to finish if the instructions say that starting the task is sufficient; move on to other tasks to maximize time.
To see the current skills outline and prepare, use the MS-700 study guide and the linked learning paths and documentation.
