I had to have my computer repaired. the solid state drive was replaced. I have not been able to reinstall 2019 office home and student from the thumb drive. This software came with a lifetime license.

Hi! Generally, the Office Home & Student license is unique and can only be installed on one computer. Did you acquire this license from Microsoft, third-party websites, or did it come pre-installed on a computer?

    1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices > Sign in with the same account linked to Office and your old Windows > Delete the old device. Caution: Do not delete your current device or it will be blocked.
    2. Then, go to https://account.microsoft.com/account?lang=en-us > Sign in > Subscriptions > Download Office. You can also download it from https://www.office.com/
    3. When installing Office, sign in with the same account. If an error occurs and you haven't linked your Windows to your Microsoft account yet, link it in Settings > Accounts.

To reinstall Office Home & Student 2019 after the SSD replacement, the key step is to install it from the Microsoft account it was linked to, not from the original thumb drive.

    Follow these steps:

    1. On the repaired PC, open a browser and go to https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used when Office Home & Student 2019 was first activated.
    3. Under Services & subscriptions, locate Office Home & Student 2019.
    4. Select Install next to Office Home & Student 2019.
    5. When the installer is downloaded, run it and follow the prompts. If prompted by User Account Control, allow the app to make changes.
    6. When installation completes, open Word or Excel and sign in with the same Microsoft account if asked, so the license is recognized.

    Notes:

    • A one-time purchase such as Office Home & Student 2019 is licensed for one installation at a time, but it can be transferred to a new computer if the old one failed or was repaired.
    • The original thumb drive is not required once the product key has been redeemed and linked to the Microsoft account.

If Office does not appear under Services & subscriptions for that account, verify that the correct Microsoft account is being used (for example, check any other personal Microsoft accounts that might have been used when first setting up the PC).
