How to reply

Just asked a question on how to reply to an answer and was told go to the original response and hit reply. there is no reply option.

Under each answer given to you, you should find the "Add comment" text box. You can use that to reply to the answer given to you. Think of each answer like its conversation branch. Comments can be added to each answer for that conversation.

On Microsoft Q&A, the available reply options depend on where in the thread the response is being made and how the thread is structured.

1. To reply to an answer directly, use the Comment feature under that specific answer. On many posts, there is no separate "Reply" button on answers; instead, comments are used for follow‑ups or clarifications.
2. To reply to the original question, use the Answer box at the bottom of the page (or the "Answer" button if shown). That creates a new answer rather than a threaded reply.
3. If following a tag or thread and receiving notifications, manage how questions are followed and how notifications are sent via the Q&A preferences page at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/users/me/settings/ under Q&A preferences. This controls when questions are auto‑followed and when emails are sent, but does not change where the Comment/Answer controls appear.

If no Comment or Answer controls appear at all, sign in to the site and ensure the account has permission to post (for example, not blocked or restricted).
