Can you help fix my Microsoft account identity

Hello, I need help with my Microsoft account identity.

My personal Microsoft account [Moderation note: PII removed]@outlook.com has been assigned an Azure AD home organisation.

On the Organisations page it shows:

“Home Organisation – Your work or school account belongs to your home organization. You cannot leave your home organization.”

This is causing Microsoft services (including Copilot) to treat my account as a work/organisation identity, even though it is a personal Outlook.com account with a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.

I need the Azure AD home organisation removed so that my account becomes a pure personal Microsoft account again.

Once the home organisation is removed, the identity conflict will be resolved.

Thank you.

    Hi, Denis Glennon

This usually happens when Microsoft is seeing the same email address in both a personal account flow and an Entra work/school flow, so some sign-ins get routed the wrong way even though the mailbox and Microsoft 365 Personal subscription are still personal. The “Home organization” entry belongs to the account owner in that directory and does not show a Leave option.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

First, open an InPrivate browser and use a tenant-specific My Account link with the tenant name or tenant ID, because personal accounts may need that exact URL to reach the Organizations page.

It is also suggested that going to myapps.microsoft.com first, then opening My Account from there, can sometimes expose the Organizations page for a personal account.

If it still shows “Home organization” with no Leave button, the fix normally has to come from the organisation admin or privacy contact removing that account from their tenant.

As a workaround for the sign-in confusion, change the primary alias on the personal Microsoft account and sign in with that alias, since aliases keep the same inbox, settings, and subscription. Also remove any saved work/school account from Windows, Teams, or the browser profile so apps stop reusing the organisational token.

If none of that clears it, use the personal Microsoft account support route and ask for manual cleanup of the tenant link on the consumer account.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.

I want Microsoft support to fix the problem. I cannot. Can you open a Chat for me?
